NAACP Bucks County School Board Candidate Survey 2023
The NAACP Bucks County Education Subcommittee seeks racial equity in the policies, actions, and curricula of our public schools. We are also a source for anti-racism training and social justice resources. We are a non-partisan organization seeking to help inform voters and working closely with aligned organizations dedicated to social and racial justice.
School board directors make decisions that impact all our children. It is vital that voters truly understand what candidates stand for. This can be extremely challenging because:
School board candidates can cross-file (not common knowledge)
Social media/the internet can present the public with a highly filtered version of candidates.
Many voters do not have the time or resources to distinguish fact from disinformation.
We have asked all Bucks County School Board candidates, who are running in the November 7, 2023 municipal elections, to help voters make informed decisions on their ballots by filling out this brief survey and allowing us to share their responses on our website. Regardless of political or party affiliation, these are critical issues that voters have on their minds, and we are eager to see where our candidates stand on them.
Aspects of the questions below were adapted from the No More Dreams Deferred Report from Children First. The report can be referenced here https://www.childrenfirstpa.org/report/no-more-dreams-deferred/ . We are seeking progress on these issues and expect that school board candidates are aware and prepared with a plan for progress.
Sharing this information with voters is essential to our election process, and we are excited to help our School Board candidates do so. The statements below required a response using the following scale:
