About the Event
This seminar explores the harmful impact of racism on children. Â It provides a list of steps and suggestions for adults to take when discussing these topics with children. Â These suggestions are broken down into different age groups: Preschool (18 months-4 years), Elementary (K-5th Grade), and Middle and High School (6th-12th Grade). Â This presentation focuses on the initial conversations on race and racism, and resource lists will be provided for further guidance. Â
Led by Serita Lachesis, who co-led the previous seminars in October 2020, joined by Jalil Pines and Megnot Toggia. All are teachers at a local Quaker school with background in anti-racism and social justice advocacy. This is a seminar for all adults about foundational conversations about racism with children from pre-school to high school.
