A Day of Advocacy to Raise the PA Minimum Wage
NAACP Bucks County will sponsor an Advocacy Day for a $15 Minimum Wage. Here in Bucks County, you can make your voice heard. Bring a letter to your Senator sharing your views and personal experiences regarding Pennsylvania’s minimum wage legislation.
Time & Location
Oct 13, 2026, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Maple Square, 340 E Maple Ave, Langhorne, PA 19047, USA
About the Event
“I have Sesame Place in my district. If we make the minimum wage too high, Sesame Place isn’t gonna be able to hire the high school and college kids to staff the theme park, so we have to balance all those things.” - Senator Frank Farry
NAACP Bucks County's Advocacy Day is focused on an effort to bring attention to Pennsylvania’s minimum wage legislation. NAACP members, workers, community leaders, faith leaders, residents, and members of the community are encouraged to come together for an in-person letter writing campaign.
Why?
Pennsylvania’s minimum wage has remained at $7.25 per hour since 2009. House Legislators passed the House-passed HB 2189 in May 2026, which proposes a phased increase to $15 per hour by 2029. The House legislation also includes a provision allowing counties to establish a higher minimum wage sooner under certain circumstances. In June 2026, Pennsylvania House and Senate Democrats publicly called for action on the legislation, noting that the bill had been awaiting consideration in the Senate.
Advocacy Demands:
Organizers are calling on Pennsylvania State Senators to:
Call for Senate action on HB 2189.
Ask the Pennsylvania Senate to take up the House-passed minimum-wage legislation and move it through the legislative process.
Ask for a recorded Senate vote.
Request that senators provide constituents with a clear public record of their position when the legislation comes before the Senate.
Support a pathway to a $15 minimum wage.
Ask legislators to support legislation establishing a phased increase in Pennsylvania’s minimum wage to $15 per hour.
Bring constituent voices to Harrisburg.
Encourage residents to bring letters sharing their experiences and perspectives on Pennsylvania’s minimum wage and deliver them to their state senator’s office.
Make economic opportunity a statewide priority.
Ask Pennsylvania lawmakers to engage workers, employers, and community organizations in discussions about wages, seasonal employment, tipped workers, and the economic impact of minimum-wage policy
BRING A LETTER TO YOUR STATE SENATOR
Participants are encouraged to come in person to write letters or bring your completed letters to our Advocacy Day expressing their views and concerns regarding Pennsylvania’s minimum wage legislation. Letters may be delivered to the Senator’s district office as part of the day's constituent advocacy activities. Participants are encouraged to share their personal experiences, perspectives, and reasons for supporting or opposing changes to Pennsylvania’s minimum wage.
The coordinated effort will provide Pennsylvania residents with an opportunity to make their voices heard directly by their elected representatives.
Can’t attend?
Your voice can still be part of the day. Mail your letter to the NAACP Bucks County Branch before October 13th, and we will include it with the letters delivered to Senator Farry’s office.
